Re: sound fx

You might find it easier and better quality to visit http://freesound.org/ in case they have what you're after for free?

Would you join a club?

I've just posted the above question on a quite vibrant YouTube film maker forum. Since YouTube seems to be where the majority of filmmakers hang out nowadays, I thought why not ask them? http://yttalk.com/threads/would-you-join-a-club.48199/#post-365689 I don't know if non members will be able to re...

Amazing sound!

I was watching this video today, and I was generally impressed by the quality of the sound. ...Especially with the mic so far away from them - I'd expect lots of room echo from that position, and would have expected that quality of sound ...

Re: If not amateur, then what?

Why the need for labels? I'm neither a professional or an amateur. I'm just a film-maker, like everyone else in my peergroup. The only distinction I'd like to make, is that I'd rather be considered a story teller, rather than a videographer (someone who operates filmmaking equipment). Also, for bala...

Re: Attracting New Members

I'm staggered that the main topic of conversation has limped back to the name. Is everyone deliberately ignoring the elephant in the room? The name IAC is NOT the thing that is putting off new members. Has anyone actually asked a filmmaker WHY they're not a member? Apart from the majority who answer...

Re: IAC International Judging ...

LOL! I think Carlos Varella from the IAC magazine still doesn't like it!

Although on a personal note, in my experience with the ones complaining the loudest, their main complaint is "they might make better films than me" Which kinda negates their opinion from my point of view. :-)

Re: IAC-FORUM- IN HOUSE COMP

Yeah.....umm.... That's not really what film-makers need - a difficult competition! :-) At OVFM we have enough trouble getting people to enter competitions, without making them difficult. That's what I was trying to hint at. The bottom line is that you want entrants. And it's not like film-makers ar...

Re: IAC International Judging ...

unless he's now become some sort of significant TV producer, I think its irrelevant. When I started my video production company, there were at least 4 people at my video club who had significantly better and more expensive equipment. However, that didn't stop me saying similar things to the person i...

Re: IAC International Judging ...

****erm... I just realised, I replied to a thread from 3 years ago!! I'll go back to bed now :-) **** The hardest bit for me is where people who are now professional or semi-professional film-makers using our competition to help sell their wares and boost their careers in the industry. Allowing mov...

Re: IAC-FORUM- IN HOUSE COMP

So I need a particularly old person, and a particularly young person for this film? You certainly believe in limiting the potential entrance candidates, don't you? :-) I'd suggest making it as open and vague as possible, in the vain hope that you get swamped by entrants. And then deal with the probl...

Re: My latest Movie short

Interesting comments. I have to take exception at Chrisbitz's comments, sorry there is only one way to describe your adverse comments and that is ...hypocritical From on your own Youtube channel you have exactly the same type of "movie", a style that has been made many thousands of times, creative....

Re: I had Animal Planet round filming my house yesterday!

Interesting photos, chris. I don't know why you bothered tidying the house. It looked like they made a right mess of it. It wasn't that bad, and by the time they left, everything had been completely moved back in place, including all the furniture and everything - they couldn't have been more helpf...

Re: My latest Movie short

I'm afraid I have to agree with Tim.. What is it that makes this a "film"? I don't mean this as a personal attack on anyone though, but one of my recent pet peeves is the upspringing of "AVs". In my experience, they're nothing more than a slideshow with music, rather than a film, and I'm sure the te...

Re: I had Animal Planet round filming my house yesterday!

yep! I got sent two puzzle feeders from Nina Ottoson for possible product placement, and the cats got more bits of chicken treats than they've ever had before in a day!
And they slept all evening, which is quite unusual, so they were certainly tired out from all the attention!
