Re: Jameela Boardman's Article FVM October 2019
Some random thoughts: 1) Re competition or celebration - yes we do see a lot of films at BIAFF on the Saturday, but they are labelled with a star rating which must influence people's attitude towards them 2)The comments in this thread - I hope a Council member or a Forum member can summarise this di...

Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham
If you enjoy the interviews with film makers on the BIAFF website, I've just added a cracking new one. It is Paul Kittel interviewing Jess O'Brien, maker of Girl A. She won Best Young British Film Maker.

Re: BIAFF 2018
I am usually one of the 'silent readers' of the Forums, but this discussion caught my eye. First, apologies to Ned if the launch of the dedicated BIAFF website was not announced loudly enough. It is always helpful to have things like this pointed out. I'll take a fresh look at the IAC website and ma...

Re: BIAFF 2016 - who's entering?
I seem to have lost a few brain cells over the holidays. First, I left the old BIAFF competition address on a couple of pages on the IAC website. Apologies for this to Tony and anyone else confused / caught out and faced with the hassle of resending films. Second the apology I put up last night went...

I haven't tried, but apparently, being safety film, it doesn't burn well.

Ideas on how to destroy old film?
Can anyone suggest a way to destroy old Standard and Super 8 film?
I've had a call for help from someone who needs to destroy several thousand feet. Shredders made little impression.
thanks

Re: Competition Results
I have removed some of the recent posts under this topic. Conversations about judging and judges' comments are usually lively - I've no problem with that - but I cannot allow personal attacks.

Re: Judges critiques - a criticism!
I support your idea of providing notes on crit-writing for judges, Ned. I've often thought that a couple of real examples could help as well. I've certainly learnt a lot from reading other people's crits. Another idea I've been mulling over is to put crits or extracts from crits on the IAC website a...

Glad you liked the article, Pete.
I agree that the email you received would make me cringe - but suspect that we are swimming against the tide.

UNICA 2009 - Success for British Moviemakers
UNICA - the world independant movie festival - was held in Gdansk, Poland last week. The jury were entertaining and often gave useful insights ... though sometimes they were also controversial (or even plain wrong! ) They gave fewer medals than usual. The British programme started with an intr...

Re: How do i get a completed dvd onto youtube ?
Try looking at your DVD with Windows Explorer - or a similar file browser. You should find folders marked Sound and Video. Open the Video one. Among the files there, will be some which end in xxx.VOB. Small ones are the menus etc. The largest one/s store the pictures and sound. You can upload those ...

Which raises the point how do we access a general audience? ned c Ned, You must be telepathic. I've just put up an article about Daphne Barbieri's (a Scottish filmmaker) experiences showing her films to other audiences. http://www.theiac.org.uk/resources/daphne-barbieri-archive.html At the moment i...
