Re: FUTURE - regions and festivals

Getting back to Daves original post. I suffer from apathy. Because the IAC has not changed, that dialogue does not happen, that all to many members are stuck th the past, that the IAC mag takes up a large proportion of the subs, that the subs I have been paying for the music license has been a waste...

Re: Card File Names

Your process seems fine, do not worry about the files you commented on, the only thing to be carefull of is as I said prior a single very long file. What I do after backing up the card is to create a working folder and copy all the card files into the working folder. On completion of the project you...

Re: Card File Names

Arthur Firstly, backup the card to your video archive disc. Copy the whole card content into your Video To Edit location. See my sticky post on AVCHD as this explains the saving process. AE writer is a very basic editor, it also enables file renaming see page 52 of the manual. If you have an individ...

Re: Voice Overs query

Peter

Put a voice over on the movie.

There may be people in the audience who have reading difficulties and yet they could make out the video OK

If not needed you can always turn the volume down but at least it is there.

AND

You can put both with and without versions on a DVD

Re: CAMERA SLIDERS

By the way the Rode mike that Bob gives a link to is a great addition to anyone's video kit.

I bought one after testing it out at the Photography Show at the NEC in March, it's way smaller than it looks in the link and mine came with a windgag.

Re: CAMERA SLIDERS

In a couple of words FORGET IT The camera sliders you see on the likes of eBay are OK and they seem to move smoothly but just try to move one with a camcorder on and then look at the results, you will see a slight jerkiness If you must have a slider get one with a variable speed motor drive I have o...

Re: File breaks in long SD card recording

Use the utility that the camcorder manufacturer produces to import the video from the SD card.

Re: Viewfinder help

Panasonic's UB900 looks as though it may solve the 4k media file playback requirements. It was shown at ces in January and is a Ultra HD BlyRay device, initial write ups of the player are good and it goes on sale in the Spring and movie titles are already available in Ultra HD BluRay format It looks...

Re: Viewfinder help

I had one of their opticals on my 7D and it was good, then it became a pain as it was fixed horizontally and uncomfortable to use.

Thank goodness for eBay the Zacuto, the 7D and all camcorders have now gone to new owners.

Re: Viewfinder help

If that does not work for you then try Zacuto

They make a HD viewfinder, not a magnifier but an electronic viewfinder

Barking mad.

Have they never heard of GoPro?

There again, I'm still waiting for Kodak to process and return the Super 8 cartridge I sent them in 1974.

Re: Windows 10

Remember

Before updating to Win 10, backup your boot drive with good software like Acronis and not Microsofts own which may result in a conflict if you need to restore Win 7.

Re: Premiere Elements 13/14

I have been advising for years for anyone with DV tapes for the tapes to be captured to a hard disc whilst it is still possible. I did this with all 75 tapes of mine five years ago, they are now all on a hard drive and backed up on another, I did this primarily whilst I still had a DV camcorder, now ...

Re: Windows 10

Win 7 Pro ended up a very stable system. What benefits are you expecting with W10? If you do upgrade do a full backup using something like Acronis before upgrading. I upgraded a Win 8 laptop because W 8 is dire but it was stable now Win Exp freezes from time to time, all other progs work. There is n...

Re: You Tube .......again

Even before this topic raised its head about the parapet I had decided to leave the IAC and hence I will not be renewing my subscription and the DD has been cancelled. OK so from now on I will only use copyright free music hence I do not need the IAC. Any movies I have on the web with commercial mus...
