1. You make a film for fun together with someone. After it has been finished your colleague asks you to sell this film to make as much money as possible. He has built a new conservatory and he needs money to pay the bill. Do you agree that he enters an amateur film festival ? 2. A filmmaker spends ...

Re: Are we really Getting Better?

I have just been asked (by a former Oscar director no less!) whether I would permit my alpaca film to be shown by a contintental TV station, apologising that 'the money wouldn't be that good"! I replied that as an amateur I can't accept any money but it could go to charity. I personaly would h...

Good point Ned. I would put it in the folder of Special Effects. I`ve tweeked the colour several times. The problem when we do alter the picture is that we introduce a bit of noise into the finished segment. The resultant is a little bit of grain. We may be able to get away with it a little bit, but...

I could have made it longer but they don`t make DVD discs that long! When I watched My wedding on video, It was a really excitting time, I couldn`t wait to...

Fantastic Wedding and Video Editing Etc

Dear All, Why are you reading this. Get a life and get out in that sun! Only Joking! My Daughter got married the other week and it was my privilege to walk her down the aisle. I wanted to video it myself, but the wife didn`t like that idea! My friend videos weddings so he got one of his helpers to d...

When dvd recorders were really dear, I used to watch films on dvd from my computer with Dolby Digital. The first film I watched was Pearl Harbour. It was fantastic.
I now use the dvd in my computer to burn and check my films. I`m not bothered with downloaded films.

I think that amateur film makers are getting better! If their like me then this holds true  :D !! My reason is that we are influenced by the new ways of filming and editing by television and the cinema. I have in the last two years watched tv with a critical eye and have started to be influen...

Have you thought, Ned, God Forbid..... if there is another fire, that you could re-edit your footage and include some of a real fire and you will see the Firemen in action? It will also show how brave they are, risking there lives for us. It may be a bit vein, but it would make a good film honouring...

I think the British sense of humour is ace, We are sinical, dry and never blink in the face of adversity. We've had some much happen in all conrners of our four kingdoms that there is nothing left to surprise or astonish us. What a great view of the world we have. It is a stupid place full stupid p...

But producing a film, when the event is still in peoples minds is also good. It would do well in the competitions. It could be like a documentry like one persons view done in the style of handheld, or it could be a more quality affair. It could also be done on the devation caused by all that amount ...

Flooding

I just wondered if anyone was going to make a film about the flooding? It seems a chance in a lifetime to make a documentary about it. With so much material (film shots and subjects) about. There would be soo many subject angles as well like how the elderly are coping? or familys etc. Has the sales ...
