Re: Festivals time limits

The reason why a lot of festivals have the time limit on them, is purely down to wanting to be more current. Most festival want to have that premiere or that UK/European/World exclusive in the hope that it gets more bums on seats. BIAFF isn't the only fest that doesn't apply this restriction, thankf...

Re: Release forms for minors

Hi, this is a great source of Film Production templates - https://www.freelancevideocollective.co ... ion-forms/ - not sure if the one you are after is there or not?

Howard-Smith wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 2:10 am Geoff, I wish you WOULD name names regarding festivals which reject films without even watching them whilst retaining the entry fee. This is thoroughly reprehensible behaviour from money-grabbing fraudsters, money that I personally can ill-afford to lose.
I'll DM you Howard :-)

Re: The weird world of Film Festivals

I have known of big name festivals that charge lots of cash for you to submit your film, only to have never watched your film when they reject it and still keep the entrance fee. I won't name names, but I will not submit anything I make to those fests anymore. I have worked on a couple of festivals ...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

Yep. My film 'Dead Air' has always received feedback that it was not long enough, and that the audience wanted more. But that was always its aim. :-)

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

Cheers Martin, appreciate the feedback. I took a lot of the feedback provided and made changes to the film. So i'm hoping that things may be more clearer now. I also realise that as a standalone film outside of the "anthology" it is intended to be a part of, is maybe not the right place fo...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

I was unable to make BIAFF (again!) this year. It always seems to clash with a Goalball Tournament, and as the coach... my team needs me. :-) I'd be very interested to hear anyone's thoughts on my film 'The Little Ones' that was screened on Friday night. I'm just making some final tweeks to it, so a...

Frightseers

Just thought I would throw this out here, see if anyone is interested. I'm currently trying to crowd-fund a web series called 'Frightseers'. It's basically 42 short films. It's rather ambitious.. even for me! But if you are interested, here is a link to an article all about it. :-) https://blazingmi...

Re: Where next for the IAC?

That's a fair point Dave. I do think it's worth investigating though. We're still providing people with a rating regarding their work, maybe non-members get a limited critique, with members getting a fuller one? Just thinking of ways to encourage people to become a member, and I do feel the crown in...

Re: Where next for the IAC?

Perhaps we need to make BIAFF entrants aware that the competition can only survive if more of them become IAC members. I'm gonna make my suggestion again (which I have done a number of times in the past)... I've always said that written feedback on a BIAFF entry, should be provided to IAC Members o...

Re: BIAFF RESULTS 2023

Here is the link to festival that my students are running - https://filmfreeway.com/Homebrewfilmfest They are keeping the entry fee's low, as well as holding the event as a big screen affair. From what I see, festivals tend to advertise predominantly on social media, like Facebook, Twitter and Insta...

Re: BIAFF RESULTS 2023

I have to say, there are still loads of film festivals around the country showing great short films. BIAFF aside, I recommend Exit 6 Film Festival in Basingstoke, as well as festivals like The Box in Newbury. My students are putting on a film festival this year in Andover called the Homebrew Film Fe...

Apologies to those waking up to my face on the front cover of FVM this month... please make sure you stare intently at Dave the Puppet rather than my unfortunate mug! ;-)

Thanks all. Still kinda surreal to be honest... It'll probably hit home more when I'm holding an actual copy of the film in my hands! :-)
