Re: Where next for the IAC?

Perhaps we need to make BIAFF entrants aware that the competition can only survive if more of them become IAC members. I'm gonna make my suggestion again (which I have done a number of times in the past)... I've always said that written feedback on a BIAFF entry, should be provided to IAC Members o...

Re: BIAFF RESULTS 2023

Here is the link to festival that my students are running - https://filmfreeway.com/Homebrewfilmfest They are keeping the entry fee's low, as well as holding the event as a big screen affair. From what I see, festivals tend to advertise predominantly on social media, like Facebook, Twitter and Insta...

Re: BIAFF RESULTS 2023

I have to say, there are still loads of film festivals around the country showing great short films. BIAFF aside, I recommend Exit 6 Film Festival in Basingstoke, as well as festivals like The Box in Newbury. My students are putting on a film festival this year in Andover called the Homebrew Film Fe...

I'm only kidding. Was a fun surprise. Probably one of my better photos, because people get distracted by the puppet. :-)

FVM - Feb 23 Issue

Apologies to those waking up to my face on the front cover of FVM this month... please make sure you stare intently at Dave the Puppet rather than my unfortunate mug! ;-)

Re: Perseverance works?

Thanks all. Still kinda surreal to be honest... It'll probably hit home more when I'm holding an actual copy of the film in my hands! :-)

Perseverance works?

Some of you may remember... way back in 2013, a 94 minute feature film I made was screened at BIAFF called 'Addict'. It was a passion project that took me well over a year to shoot. It got 4 stars. I read the feedback I received, as well as feedback from my peers and decided to recut the film, shoot...

Re: Film & Video Maker Magazine - Back Issues

You're welcome to my 90's collection Howard. Just want them to go to a good home, before the spring clean kicks in and they end up in a recycling centre somewhere. :-)

Film & Video Maker Magazine - Back Issues

I've been clearing out the loft, and I've come across an old pile of FVMs, dating back to early 1988 (roughly when I joined) right up to the early 2000s. I've picked out the issues of interest to me, especially the ones that I've contributed to (mostly the Page Ten Youth News section). But the rest ...

Re: 3D VR

Tim is right. VR will never replace traditional viewing methods... at least not for a long time yet. It does however provide a unique experience that traditional viewing will not touch. It's worth experiencing for sure, even if it's not to your taste. :-)

Re: UK FILM REVIEWS

There’s no way on earth that I would allow anyone else to edit my films. For me, editing is the most enjoyable and most satisfying part of the whole filmmaking process. I used to make films as a one-man band for many years. I could never trust other people to realise my vision. This has changed hug...

I have brought it up a few times, but doesn't seem to get the popular vote... no idea why?!

Re: How do you "sell" a film festival?

Having run a film festival (listed in the top 100 festivals in the world according to FilmFreeway), I hope I can shed some light. The 2000-4000 entries is way off in my experience. If you make the entrance fee free... then about 2k+ entries is likely as you'll get everything and everyone. But even w...
