Re: BIAFF 2025 - results and more

Thanks Martin. I've had a quick look on the usual places and don't see it, so if you do have a link, i'd love to see it. :-)

Re: BIAFF 2025 - results and more

On another note... my short 4* film 'Shhhhh' is being screened on Saturday at the festival... and sadly for yet another year, I am unable to make it. I'm a Goalball Coach and my team need me ;) But if anyone does see it, I'd love to know what you think of it. I'll take all of your feedback on the ch...

Re: BIAFF 2025 - results and more

I haven't watched the 'Right to reply video', but I did watch the film "Seeds we sow" just now. Having not read the feedback, I think I would have given it a High 2* maybe low 3* if pushed. There is some technical merit in there, but there are lots and lots of things that need and can be i...

Re: VR Filmmaking

That's why your films are always worth watching ... you give a lot of thought to the mechanics of telling the story with whatever technology you use. Bless you Dave :-) Michael - VR stand for Virtual Reality. You need specialist equipment to get the full viewing experience, like the Meta Quest 3, e...

Re: VR Filmmaking

Cheers Dave. I'm always curious with new tech. I love watching movies in 3D, so going VR was a natural step. But it does have its many challenges, and they're not all technological. Creating a story that works in VR is almost as big a challenge as shooting the film. :-)

VR Filmmaking

I've shot a film called 'You Can Cancel at Anytime' in 3D 180 VR. I've managed to get it selected for 4 Festivals so far, where they have VR equipment to allow people to access the film. It seems to have gone down well. But finding festivals that will do this is near on impossible. Has anyone else v...

Re: Touting for films

Yeah this is very common. I get these emails on a daily basis also. Sites like Filmfreeway have your details and festivals can tap into that list of emails for a fee. Even when festivals mention my actual film by name, I still take it with a pinch of salt. I also get fests contacting me via my socia...

Re: Festivals time limits

The reason why a lot of festivals have the time limit on them, is purely down to wanting to be more current. Most festival want to have that premiere or that UK/European/World exclusive in the hope that it gets more bums on seats. BIAFF isn't the only fest that doesn't apply this restriction, thankf...

Hi, this is a great source of Film Production templates - https://www.freelancevideocollective.co ... ion-forms/ - not sure if the one you are after is there or not?

Howard-Smith wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 2:10 am Geoff, I wish you WOULD name names regarding festivals which reject films without even watching them whilst retaining the entry fee. This is thoroughly reprehensible behaviour from money-grabbing fraudsters, money that I personally can ill-afford to lose.
I'll DM you Howard :-)

Re: The weird world of Film Festivals

I have known of big name festivals that charge lots of cash for you to submit your film, only to have never watched your film when they reject it and still keep the entrance fee. I won't name names, but I will not submit anything I make to those fests anymore. I have worked on a couple of festivals ...

Yep. My film 'Dead Air' has always received feedback that it was not long enough, and that the audience wanted more. But that was always its aim. :-)

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

Cheers Martin, appreciate the feedback. I took a lot of the feedback provided and made changes to the film. So i'm hoping that things may be more clearer now. I also realise that as a standalone film outside of the "anthology" it is intended to be a part of, is maybe not the right place fo...
