Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?
Could the reason people don't feel a yearn to go to BIAFF is because so many of the top films chosen are so depressing!!!!!!!!!!! :( I don’t know why some people don’t yearn for BIAFF, John? I know that for me whether the films are on joyful subjects or serious subjects doesn’t necessarily affect m...

Re: 16mm and 9.5mm Transfers
Thank you, Michael. Sadly Tom doesn't do 16mm nor 9.5mm. Have you used Stanleys for anything recently, Michael? I think my 'team' are hoping to do it all themselves, but we're searching for a 'back-up' plan in case we can't do them or can't do them in time for a showing in September. Anyway, if you ...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?
I see in FVM that BIAFF will be online from the Monday to Thursday, but then for the weekend it will be live at the Crescent ONLY - no zoom for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows. Interesting...I hope it leads to a big attendance!

Re: February 2024 FVM
Yes! Mine's arrived too. And Martin, it's TERRIFIC! It feels modern and relevant to actual filmaking...Vlogging...Artificial Intelligence...a cob light that's not ridiculously expensive...lone filmmaking full of tips... ND Filters...reports direct from several film clubs. GREAT STUFF! Martin, you re...

Re: Where next for the IAC?
Martin Evans wrote: I feel we should concentrate on making BIAFF a major festival. Bums on seats, most importantly. Also though, I like the idea of using some of that IAC cash to pay for workshops, training courses, guest speakers and other premium content. Long long ago the way BIAFF was run inclu...

Re: 2022 Accounts
I wrote and asked for the accounts weeks ago, because it was advertised that they'd be on the website by 12th October. I was told "I'm afraid that the accounts are not finalised yet. They are still being worked on by our accountant. Once uploaded, we'll be sending out an email to all members wi...

Re: Where next for the IAC?
Great suggestions, Ned. Yes! I particularly like the suggestion of paying someone to promote BIAFF and the IAC. I feel that the wonderful, committed, active members of the Council are desperately overworked, and it really is worth delegating this and trying to promote it as much as possible in the h...

Re: Where next for the IAC?
Tim, your response is interesting. Well done for having so many suggestions. I think it is probably still attractive to filmmaking enthusiasts to meet up with people who share their enthusiasm. And I think it is still attractive to show films to a live audience as opposed to a YouTube audience. I ha...

Re: Open Film Night Summer Chalenge
Unfortunately I could not watch the films ... but my concern is that such contests are about the mechanics of getting a film made with content and any artistry coming second. Am I wrong? Dave, I agree with Martin...having FUN is the point. But if you're doing it in a team, then it's also about work...

Re: YouTube cut my video short
Sorry to be slow to reply. It turned out there was something wrong with the file. I hasten to say it wasn't MY file!!! 25 minutes was fine. But then the final frame just stayed there as a still for 35 minutes with no sound. This was BEFORE uploaded to YouTube. No wonder YouTube wasn't happy with it.

YouTube cut my video short
I've just uploaded a video to YouTube. The file is an hour long. YouTube has cut it down to 25 minutes. Does anyone know WHY? Or what I can do to put it right?

Free Royalty Free Music
Can anyone give me links to sites for FREE Royalty Free music? It seems to me that they are getting harder and harder to find. There used to be a few I liked, but they have transformed into paying sites. I tend to use AKM myself - good because you can use it for anything - but you have to pay. I'm l...
