An interesting post. Future historians will have little more than passing interest in our dramas but the family films will be a mine of information. The problem now is that fewer people write letters and keep journals, the written word is fading into texting, telephone calls and e-mails which seldo...

Re: Our Clubs Editing Competition
Willy, I tend to agree with Peter on this one, it would be a boring film. (RE: Cambridge student life) I am always seeking new documentary subjects and I find that you have to take great care to get something different and, if possible, eccentric! Audiences get bored very easily and following a stu...

Re: as post
My first visit to an English pub ! I was a young lad of only 18. I had a drink in the local pub. It was the very first time that I visited an English pub. I drank two pints of bitter. Strange those large ones I thought. We don't have them on the continent. Some men were playing dice. An old man was...

Cambridge is a very beautiful place. When I was a teacher I took a course in Churchill College. I stayed in Saffron Walden for some time. In spring time Cambridge is one of the most beauiful places in the world. The river Cam, the daffodils, King's College and its painting made by Peter Paul Rubens...

Re: Open Evening
Are people loosing interest in making films or isn`t anybody interested anymore. Last night we held our `Open Evening`. Once a year we open our doors to the public and show some of our films. None of mine were shown.  ... Long story :x We put posters up in shops etc, and do you know....

Talking of editing I've just shot my first video footage for over 2 and a half years!! It's only 4 minutes long, and its so well shot it hardly needs editing!! BUT, it's 100% boring - just a silly trip to Cambridge - a rather boring place anyway! But one day I might shoot some marginally more intere...

Re: Our Clubs editing Competition.
Our club has an editing competition every year. You are given an hours footage and you can do anything with it as long as it`s not longer then 5 minutes. This years footage is the worse i`ve EVER seen. It`s ******** awlfull! I`ve seen better quality on one of my VHS tapes that`s twenty years old! A...

Thanks for all your answers. Much appreciated. Just to let you know that I found a DV tape with the very item on it - so I have plugged my DV camera (which still seems to work OK) into the old computer and I'm merrily copying away to the hard drive. Next step - a DVD!! I hope my friend will be thri...

Re: The Stragest Places That You Have Filmed?
Peter, you make a joke (I hope!) but recently I heard of a filmmaker getting pulled up by the Police for filming ladies (don't know if young or old) in Trafalgar Square. Apparently they accused him of 'voyeurism'. Any legal beavor amongst us who knows the law on this? They told him it was in new le...
