One of Fraught's films would be enough to finish off half the club - especially one that even he thinks shoud carry parental advice.
Outside filming .... Hmmmm that reminds me - we must update the website.

Re: Addict - Premiere
Sadly 'tis a club night.
Out of interest, are you hiring the room or are they letting you use it out of support for the community?

Borehamwood on the brink ... ?
I've been contacted by Ben Simon, Chariman of Borehamwood Movie Makers, to say that it look like the demise of the club is imminent unless they can generate some interest and some new members pretty quick. With his permission, I have copied his email below, but the gist is, if you know anyone to who...

Re: video converters
Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/) is very popular. And I've used "Super" with some successs (though it can be quite diffiult to find the link to the download: it's on this page http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html near the bottom but NOT the button which says "download", the text ...

Re: FESTIVALS - celebrations or competitions?
I know BIAFF. It's a competition and a celebration. It has the advantage that the filmmakers already know their results some weeks before the festival. (Thanks to Peter for opening up this thread again) I'm with you Willy. It's a massive advantage that, with one or two exceptions, the winners are a...

Re: Edius 6 BEATS Premiere CS5.5
Glad you tracked down the problematic footage - inchage? - centimetreage? - but it is still intriguing ... what caused the hiccup in the first place? Whenever I come across any sort of corruption in the digital world, it causes me to take a step back and be staggered at just how little corruption t...

Re: Panasonic SD 900 help
Can't comment on how well your PC will cope with 50p, but the camera will record in a variety of formats, so if it struggles and you've no particular reason to go to 50p, you can record to 50i or 25p according to the spec on the Panasonic site. I also note that Premiere Elements 9 is a 32bit Applica...

Good point. I guess we have veered more than a little off topic. ApologiesGodfrey wrote:Thank you Tim but this post started with a request for on site training to upload video to social networking sites vis a vis Youtube and vimeo

Re: Uploading videos to facebook, youtube and vimeo
I must be in an agreeable mood as I agree with everyone on this. Firstly, my experience of watching Vimeo is similar to Dave's and Tom's. I generally kck it off and pause immediately to let the whole film buffer rather than risk the film be spoilt by stuttering mid way through. I have a 30Mbps cable...

Re: BIAFF 2012 RESULTS
Why not put the subtitles at the TOP of the picture ... ??? I'd have to put my varifocals on upside down! Rather more seriously, I'm not sure it would feel "right". It seems to me to be a bit unnatural to have text at the top. Very rarely do we see anything other than maybe a logo or some...

Re: BIAFF 2012 RESULTS
I thought VINCENT was a fascinating film, albeit with a rather depressing fatalistic message. It was very well acted and filmed - I thought the Guardian Angel character himself was particularly convincing. The scenario certainly appealed to me more than ANGELS ON THE RAIL, but I wouldn't necessarily...

Re: BIAFF 2012 RESULTS
This question from the man whose signature line reads: "If you walk you're gonna get there, though it takes a little longer" ?!?!?!?!?!   Nice observation, Dave. Interestingly I've never taken that line to refer to enjoying the journey, I've seen it as far more mundane - a...

Re: BIAFF 2012 RESULTS
ONE MOMENT: Thanks Mike. It's all so obvious now you've explained it. I had trifled with much of this whilst watching, but the symbolism of the penultimate shot - of the girl being taped to the wall - so obvious now - had escaped me. It probably doesn't help that I simply don't "get" poetr...

Re: BIAFF 2012 RESULTS
One Moment was wonderfully done but maybe a trifle too obscure. I really enjoyed that film. It had a great look, was very well acted, and had a lovely pace. But what I really enjoyed was I found it menally stimulating, I was constantly trying to make sense of it or find a message. I failed. Can anyo...
