Re: Exterior Filming in the 'North' this Summer

I know there has been a certain degree of despondency as much-loved and respected regional officers retired or in some cases passed away ... but the North-West and North-East of England is packed with talented film makers. You must be out and about shooting this summer, so do contact Jameela and let...

Re: Asus monitors

A google search for ""asus VN247" manual" provides several sources, though those documents are not too helpful They do indicate that there should be a 4:3 option.

It is also worth checking on the Asus website under "support" for any drivers that may be needed.

Re: Filming Children

I don't have expertise in this area, but: There is no law against photographing or filming children, provided the images are decent in nature. It is still wise to obtain permission, if possible from the parents. When you ask for permission to film children it can often be useful to keep the camera r...

Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham

How strange - the link takes me directly to the film.

If you try "https://vimeo.com/smallpersonproductions" can you see it on the list of productions?

Re: SERIAC Festival 2019

Howard - the SERIAC Festival website says: "... all amateur movie makers in the South East region of the United Kingdom (South of the Thames and into Kent, Surrey, Sussex - and the Channel Islands)" I also regret the lack of film makers, but it seems to be the case at most festivals. Inevitably it i...

Re: SERIAC Festival 2019

It will be lovely to meet up with you and Vera again in Zeist. It has been far too long since we last saw you.

The SERIAC has always had a good reputation and sometime we must try to get to the Oast House ourselves.

FVM Magazine May 2019

My copy arrived yesterday and looks just as sleek as ever. There are a few design changes and Cathy will be pleased that the back cover has changed! Most of it is very like the previous incarnation. I spotted a couple of misplaced picture captions but that is not untypical. But Tom, Ken, Willy and N...

Re: Hard disk drive failure

Good tip, Tom. Thanks. It is also worth checking with your friendly local computer repair shop (if you are lucky enough to have one) since they may be able to rescue data from a damaged disc for a fair price. There are major Data Recovery companies who will bring two pantechnicons of gear, park outs...

Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham

My guess is that Ken has not been asked to judge at BIAFF because there is usually one or more films from him in the competition. We'd rather have him as a film maker. Most experienced judges can make allowance for the technology showing the film ... but it is not ideal. As Ken suggests one answer m...

Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham

YES ... For me this is what festivals are all about most BIAFF visitors are like that. The timetable for the Saturday and Sunday shows will be on the BIAFF website in a few minutes, so you can try to plan. You may find some rooms are packed, so having a second choice ready is a good idea. My only re...

Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham

Jon - you will love the Saturday scrum as people dash between the various mini-cinemas during the tea /coffee breaks. I recommend you and your team spread out so that between you you can see almost everything. Jan and I rarely sit together. On Sunday we all watch together in the neighbouring cinema....

Re: BIAFF 2019 at Birmingham

My link to the Diamond Awards page was only to get straight to the start of the listings - not to promote any concerns about the proportion of foreign winners. The shameful truth is that most of the first-round judging is done on hotel room tv sets. Five rooms are used ... getting hold of five good ...
