Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

I have always enjoyed making documentaries or eductional films. For BIAFF they needed to be subtitled, of course. That's a big disadvantage for foreigners. I can imagine that judges are tired after 7 or 8 movies and then they have to watch a subtitled film of 19 minutes, even with enough silent mome...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

Albert, you are another lucky man. I have never had a chat with you, but I know you are a VIP in the IAC. Last night I was in my club. My friends told me that attending funerals has become one of their weekly "duties". That's the hard reality. But of course there are also people who reach ...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

Dear Michael, You still have the energy to do quite a lot of things physically at the age of 89. You are very lucky. I hope you will reach the age of 100, also because you are the best filmmaker in the world. And I am grateful for the things you did for me in 2007. We also have things in common. Our...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

Dear Martin, First of all congratulations to you. "Film and Video Magazine" is great. I always enjoy it. With pleasure I read all the articles. In the latest issue I was very interested in the article by Ken Wilson: "Is Filmmaking Fun?" I can't miss the magazine. That's one of th...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

Do not be worried, Martin. I feel embarrassed when reading your message. I called Werner two hours ago, but he is out. Anyway, I am sure that he will keep making films, also for BIAFF. Do you remember the interview with me in your "Film and Video Maker" of August 2023? He said : "I am...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

Werner and I are close friends. "Elise" is a wonderful film. I don't know if it will be shown at BIAFF. Just after having received our results he went to Malaga in Spain. Good to get rid of his frustrations. He sent me some messages, but he didnt tell me whether his movie will be screened ...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?

Kind words, but we are not Little Belgium! I don't have the feeling that I am swimming in a little pond. There are 5 filmclubs within 10-12 kilometres from my house. In Belgium we are having command of many languages, just like the Dutch and Danish. We are proud of it. That's also why the Belgians a...

Have not received it yet. Last time there were problems. The IAC-secretary helped me.
Of course I live on the Continent. I must be patient.

Our friend Ron Prosser has passed away. We'll miss him!

I am very sad to tell you that our friend Ron Prosser passed away yesterday. Ron was extremely excited and energetic till the end. He helped me to make "Marc Remembers Sarah" and "Hop around the Weald. He was always very cheerful . It was pleasant to work with him. We will always reme...

Re: Where next for the IAC?

It's been a while since I looked at the discussion forum due to lack of time. These days I am concentrating on my English conversation classes. I have 10 students now. Their age: from 60 to 83. They don't make films, but from time to time I show one of my movies with English subtitles on the TV-scre...

The IAC-secretary sent it to me after I had told him I was waiting for it. That was about two weeks ago. His name is David. My friends Mary and Peter Rouillard from Guernsey were surprised to have received three copies, I remember. Apparently quite a lot of things went wrong, David said. He was puzz...

Re: Hybrid camera, Piccolo and Colour Grading

At the Bar in Birmingham Many thanks for your replies, Ned and Michael. But there are also other things that play a role in my decisions for the future. Certainly, not only the rapid technological changes. I'd rather not mention the other things on the forum. Maybe we can talk about them at the bar...
