Re: USB hub
Each hub socket works as an INDEPENDENT USB Socket... drive letters are not involved unless the devices plugged in are "Drives". A "USB 3" hub has no advantage unless the "host" USB socket is also "USB 3 (i.e. the computer supports USB 3") Just my penn'orth in...

Re: Am I thick, or what?
Thanks, Dave.... it's the "deeper water" scenario!
I'll try your suggestions in Pinnacle 14 in Album and experiment from there. But I MUST remember to use RW discs!

Am I thick, or what?
I have a DVD purchased from China which is of a CinemaScope film (2.35:1) intended to be shown a 4:3 screen. It therefore fills a 4:3 screen horizontally, with bars top and bottom (letterbox). So far so good... but, if I show it on a 16:9 screen it has the same bars top and bottom PLUS black bands l...

Re: Super 8 camera
Only then can the cine footage can go to the recycling centre ;-) Never, never throw away priceless originals1 They will still be viable long after any current Digital copies are unusable due to equipment obsolescence. Projectors, as with vinyl turntables, are basic electro-mechanical devices which...

Re: Super 8 camera
No, Tom, because there is absolutely no point in it! At the end of the day, what it achieves is using the body and lens of an old camera to save providing a body and lens for the resulting Digital camera! Which is pretty stupid, when the "cartridge", after all the development costs for wha...

Re: 16 mm Minetta Viewer Editor
I do not know this particular machine, but on the ELMO (and other badged versions) 8mm machine there is a knurled knob used for framing (inching). BUT you have to push it in before you turn it to affect the framing, otherwise it won't turn. Perhaps this is the same on yours? Only a thought!

Re: sound fx
Basically, connect the output of the Cassette Recorder (or even the Record Player) to the Line In jack on either the back or front of your computer and record your FX tracks using a free software called "Audacity 2.0.3", available from.. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ There are ...

Re: Colour matching two monitors
I always use EIZO TEST... http://www.softpedia.com/get/Windows-Widgets/System-Utilities/Eizo-MonitorTest.shtml So long as you can feed the SAME signal to both Monitors from the SAME Graphics card output, adjustments to Brightness, Contrast, R, G and B can be done separately if your Monitor Menus all...

Re: New HD Camera
Thank you ned c! I've been using Studio 14 for some time by trial and error because the Manual, although bulky, is NOT very well written (It doesn't tell you how to do things.. only what you can do! These Videos are excellent; I've picked up several tips already. Now (tongue in cheek) can any of you...

Re: New HD Camera
I'm not a computer expert, but I foresee me having this problem later when I start to use my Panasonic with HD Writer and Pinnacle 14. I came across this, which may be helpful.. http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/avchd-format-discussion/123181-bext-way-import-avchd-panasonic-sd5.html It refers mainly to im...
