Re: Da Vinci Resolve 15 & possibly 16

Hi All I think my search was futile because my password had been erased because of lack of posting activity. Since reinstated thanks to Dave Watterson. Will now have a browse. We have set up a closed WhatsApp group at DVMC and we have 13 people climbing the learning curve together, roped together in...

Da Vinci Resolve 15 & possibly 16

I have just searched the forum for comments on the Da Vinci Resolve program and can find no reference to it. Members of my club, Darlington Video Makers Club, are busy searching through the mountain of YouTube material to see who can climb the learning curve first. Bearing in mind the cost of decent...

Re: Show reel formats

Thanks John for your comment. It adds grist to the mill. Your statement that you are ‘not sure what the question is’, is perhaps the most revealing and probably the result of my mixing problems and solutions in the same post. (Sorry for the delay in thanking contributors but I had given up on making...

Re: Show reel formats

We are deep in discussion at my club on the general question of movie presentation and file formats. Perhaps the subject is too elementary for the audience here but we do need to get it sorted out and agree a common approach so I would appeal to those who have a better understanding of the subject t...

Show reel formats

Other clubs will no doubt have experienced the same problems and I would be grateful to receive their comments on my reading of the situation. With club members shooting in Standard Definition, HD1080p and HD1080i, (and even 4K), the club needs a policy to advise members on the format in which they ...

Bluff Titler & Direct X 11

I have used Bluff Titler for several years and a couple of days ago decided to upgrade in order to take advantage of a number of very attractive templates. This is not a cheap system, (about £50 for the upgrade and one set of templates), and I write to warn others who may fall into the same trap. I ...

Re: mpeg2 and transparency

The Chroma key solution worked fine - but it's a bit of a work-around.
If I stumble on an elegant solution I'll share it.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Re: mpeg2 and transparency

Thanks Tim I have had a similar problem when importing stills with transparency. I know that there are several formats, including .psd, that will retain transparency but I don't know the equivalent video format. Premiere has 23 different 'export media' options but I don't know which, if any, will re...

mpeg2 and transparency

Having tried very hard to solve the following problem myself I am hoping that someone will point out where I am going wrong. I am using Adobe Premiere CS5.5. I wish to create a graphic, (of simulated smoke), by defining the shape of the smoke envelope, copying it and then painting, (in Photoshop), t...

Re: Card File Names

Batch renaming in Windows Explorer is possible.

See http://www.howtogeek.com/111859/how-to- ... ple-files/

The Explorer method will do for me.

Re: Card File Names

Hi Col Thanks for your early reply. I have read your sticky and now remember that I have read it before. A great deal of it passes way over my head – but some of it sticks. I don’t consider my work of sufficient importance that the world would be significantly worse off if I lost the lot. My main ai...

Card File Names

I am getting down to work on video captured from the card on my Panasonic HC-X920 and I’m working on several projects simultaneously. This has raised a number of questions which I am sure have been asked and answered before and I would be very grateful if someone could save me a great deal of trial ...

Adobe Creative Cloud

I have recently downloaded updates for my Adobe CS5 applications and find that, (somehow), I have acquired ‘Adobe Creative Cloud’. This doesn’t appear to do anything useful but I thought I had better check before I uninstall it. It regularly nags me to install updates but I remain uneasy as to how I...

Re: Firewire and Windows 7

Hi everyone Just to complete the story. Have purchased and installed the following firewire card:- PCI FIREWIRE 400 CARD - IEEE1394a - TEXAS INSTRUMENTS - TI SINGLE CHIPSET This was recognised by Premiere immediately but just to be safe I followed Chrisk's advice and installed the Legacy driver. Cap...
