Re: Forum chat in FVM
Some of the younger ambitious film makers, hoping for entry into the professional world, do gather and discuss and show films, but do they want an eighty something old person to join in? I wish I had the opportunity! In my experience each generation is very different from previous or subsequent gen...

Re: Bournemouth University Graduate Film
Thanks for watching the film Michael. I agree with your comments. Re the credits, they are real! The way students are encouraged to make films is very collabarative. Which is quite different to the way most of us non student types make films. When we were acting in the little play we did not know th...

Who do we make films for?
The first films I made were about the novelty of the equipment, and then I wanted to show friends and family the results. Later there was the novelty and challenge of putting something on YouTube and thinking of an idea to post. Making vlogs became exciting when my YouTube channel started earning me...

Re: Bournemouth University Graduate Film
Thanks for watching the film Ned, I agree with your comments especially the need for a tripod for a lot more of the shots. One of the good things about the film is it shows the ability of the makers to to work with a lot of people and create a production. Most of the actors will be able to use clips...

Bournemouth University Graduate Film
I recently acted in a Bournemouth University Graduate Film - "The Wayfarer" The whole thing was an amazing and eye opening experience. Both learning about myself and the Uni scene, with a large number of people working together. I knew nobody, so had to get to know everybody for the first ...

Re: Forum chat in FVM
Tim, don't desert this Forum, we need every contribution, we all have a common interest in the art of film making and it's good to talk (and listen). This is another example of how a person can easily be misrepresented - the way I read Tim's comment was that he is withdrawing his offer to write a s...

Re: Forum chat in FVM
The problem nowadays is what are we producing for, other than for our own satisfaction? My local club (Finchley) is no more, the IAC North Thames Region is no more, I am primarily a YouTuber, so I have no problem about who an I making my films for. I'm also involved in art, dance, drama and music w...

Re: Forum chat in FVM
Oh dear, all this depressing chat from you guys, cheer up for heavens sake. Messrs Simpson and Evans need cheering up, maybe Dave, you and I should get them a few drinks at BIAFF in April? I can't understand the lack of action on this Forum, it is the perfect platform for chat, far better than the ...

Re: Forum chat in FVM
To be fair the forum is hardly going, so how could there be an article based on monthly forum content? I did think it might be good to have a regular article on the Open Film night films. The contributors may like to know it was going to happen before they entered a film just in case the reviewer sa...

Forum chat in FVM
In the Open voices time after the IAC AGM on Zoom, with only 20 in attendance, it was voiced that to get more content for FVM there could be chat from the forum. Sounds like we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for contemporary content for FVM now. It has been said that there is far too m...

Re: Is electronic communication a young persons thing?
The need for a social group is huge, whether on facebook or at a pop festival. Traditionally fullfilled by family life and village but family and much of village life gone, so has to be fullfilled in other ways. When I say family life gone I mean the family may be together but leading seperate lives.

Re: Burlesque
Thanks for watching the film Tim, may put it in the SoCo comp next year. I like the 48 hour challenge, it suits my personality. This is the 3rd year we've entered a film and in my opinion the best of the 3. We had to pay to hire the hall and it as perfect.

Re: IAC Website
The "Member only" area of the website may suggest that an online version of FVM is already available. But it is in an unrecogniseable language. Will this area be only for individual members or also those afiliated to an IAC subscribing club. Clubs and club members need all the encouragemen...

Re: IAC Website
One step closer to having FVM as an online mag? Which would sound good to me.
