Re: Music Video is Finally Finished

But i guess what was missing and to be fair, what is missing in a very large number of music videos, is anything which makes me want to see how the narrative develops. Its a valid point. As I previously admitted, when I conceived the idea for the video, I sort of knew I wanted those elements, but I...

Re: Music Video is Finally Finished

Hi Tim, thanks for the feedback - its so concise, you had to post it twice! Couple of fair points you make, though - the framing of the newsreader was an issue, originally, and you can see this from the test footage I previously posted, Jon was framed much better, however, two things worked ag...

Re: Music Video is Finally Finished

Hi Peter, John and Dave, Many thanks for your positive and constructive feedback, I'm really glad you all like it. Peter and Dave - Alien Stash Tin are something of a bizarre local musical phenomenon - I've known Jon, the singer, since the early 90's when I met him at college - we were even briefly ...

Music Video is Finally Finished

Hi Guys, Have mostly overcome my audio syncing issues, and after a marathon bit of editing, here is the finished video; Quick warning, there is a smidge of colourful language in some of the captions, Hope you enjoy it, feedback welcome. Re: First Days Filming - Early Test results

Looks like the problem is with Sony Vegas. I was mistakenly believing that the original WMV file I rendered was in sync - Windows media Player has been playing it in sync, but everything else I've played it on, such as VLC Player, has revealed the sync issue. I've found some support forums with sugg...

Re: First Days Filming - Early Test results

Having some real issues with this whole Youtube and audio out of sync problem. I've been told that my best bet was to upload vids in MP4 rather than WMV, so I did a render direct from Sony Vegas using the h.264 Mpeg codec, lo and behold, I get the same sync problem straight from the render as I get ...

Re: First Days Filming - Early Test results

Hi Guys, Thanks for the feedback, firstly to Fred for ensuring that I didn't electrocute myself or any of the band, as it was a real possibility when I first got started! Secondly, Tim, many thanks for your dedication to the podcast, nice to know we have at least one fan! The next episode was actual...

Re: First Days Filming - Early Test results

Hey guys, sorry being such a stranger here, had to wait three months to get to do the concluding shoot for the music video I'm working on, but finally got some progress. Have finished the first big task in the editing of my music video - here is the band performance element of the video, plus there ...

First Days Filming - Early Test results

Hey there Finally I got to begin filming my music video project for my friends band this Saturday just gone. You can read the full story on my blog about how it went, http://www.mysticjim.blogspot.com - but just as a test piece, here is a bit of test footage from my first attempt at filming using a ...

Re: Newbie with questions!

Hi John Thanks for checking out the blog, hopefully - by this time next week I will have some actual filming done to report back on, then things will start in earnest. In the meantime, though, I've also got a podcast running in conjunction with the blog, this is much more the general movie review an...

Re: Newbie with questions!

Many thanks to Dave and Fred for your vital, and possibly life saving advice! I have now purchased the correct spec cable (Dave - good call on TLC as a supplier - would you believe they actually have an outlet about 10 minutes walk from where I live, bonus!) I have now tested my 150W lights and will...

Re: Newbie with questions!

Hi Fred and Dave Thanks for your replies, can I paraphrase a bit here as there is a lot to take in... Fred seems to suggest that the old 1.25 cable should be fine, but Dave's mate suggests that 1.5 is probably better. As the cable will be used indoors at room temperature, I think I'm alright there w...

Re: Newbie with questions!

Thank you Fred D,

Glad to have it confirmed. I'd also been posting on a dedicated electrical forum and they have just produced a similar answer, although not as detailed an explanation.

Many thanks, I shall begin hacking up my old extension cable forthwith!

Re: Newbie with questions!

Hello Thanks to Tim and Tom for your initial responses, thats pretty helpful. The main reason for using multiple cameras is time constraints, last time I managed about 6 usable takes in about 5 hours with a single camera, and it was nowhere near enough, I was hoping to cover more angles in the same ...

Newbie with questions!

Evening all, I'm Jim and I've just located this forum, and i hope you good people can be of much assistance. I'm very new to video and visuals, my background has primarily been audio, both in term of performance and production, but recently I've begun dabbling in (very) amateur film making, and I ha...
