Re: Forum chat in FVM
Hi Ned and all. Yes the FVM magazine is called, Film and Video MAKER . Very few articles appear now which are actually about the process of making films! I know the magazine has to cater for all interests and I have no objections to the reviews of film (video) equipment and always read Tom's article...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?
I would urge any hesitant attendees to BIAFF 2024 to come to the festival if at all possible. We started coming to these annual IAC festivals in 1995 and have only missed two live events since then. I have generally enjoyed the Saturday shows more than the Sunday shows, especially in the days when w...

Re: BIAFF 2024 - yes or no?
We went to our first BIAFF (though it was called Movie '95 back then) when I joined the IAC and we have only missed 2 live events out of all the festival weekends since. Back then it was a huge event held in large hotels with hundreds of people swarming all around the place. It was quite daunting at...

BIAFF on ZOOM
Hi all. It was the first BIAFF online evening last night. It was an interesting selection of films getting the week off to a good start. A bonus was that this method allows for us to introduce our film and to answer questions about it which all adds to the enjoyment. It was puzzling though why the a...

Re: A Bunch of Amateurs
As I said in the magazine when I first mentioned the film ABOA, we know the Bradford club well. We have given many film shows/ talks there over the past 20 years or more. We have used their premises as a location (for "Writer`s Block") and we have used their members as extras for a new fil...

Re: A Bunch of Amateurs
Hi Dave and Howard. For some reason, the Bradford club post regular messages to local clubs and individuals and they are on Facebook most days, but almost never seem to promote themselves beyond the local region, hence why I did this to let people know. I will be watching again as it all flew by at ...

A Bunch of Amateurs
Hi All; I thought I would let you all know that the film I told everyone about in FVM, A Bunch of Amateurs , the feature length documentary about the Bradford Movie Makers club is to be shown on TV next week. I heard about this today as I have links to the club and individual members via Facebook, a...

Re: FVM October 2022 issue
Hi Martin; I wanted to add my thoughts about the latest magazine. I think it looks brilliant and very bright, colourful and eye catching. I can`t understand why someone would send a long negative review about it. What are they wanting? Tell us more. I think the magazine has gone from strength to str...

Re: FVM October 2022 issue
Hi Martin. Thanks for all your comments. To reiterate what I said at the start though, I like the new-look magazine and think you have done a great job. You have to cater for all tastes and everyone would ask for different things. Some would ask for more articles on making documentaries, some on mor...

Re: FVM October 2022 issue
I have just finished reading the new look FVM and have a few comments. Overall I like the new look/ style and the feel of the paper. It feels like a quality magazine, very professional, so well done Martin for that. I don`t use QR codes, never have, so these looked a bit full on all over the magazin...

Re: BIAFF 2022
Hi everyone. We thought that this years BIAFF was one of the best, if not THE best. I liked many of the new ideas like the link on Zoom. Also the idea of each film maker present, either live in the theatre or on the Zoom screen being asked to introduce their film and say a little bit about how and w...

Re: BIAFF 2022
Hi Tim and all the rest of you posting here. I wanted to post some thoughts about BIAFF, the films, the company and all the rest, but so far have had lots going on. It can often be that there is so much to say about an event that it prevents me writing a short message, so here it is for now. I will ...

Re: Paul Kittel's Zoom evening
I wanted to see this, but we had already booked a night at a local theatre with some actors we know who have been in our films. Unfortunately, it fell on the same evening. The first theatre show for 2 years!

Re: DVD and Blu-ray discs
I would just like to add that when I ask couples if they still have a DVD player to watch their final edited wedding video, some tell us that they play discs on a Playstation games console! So as gaming seems to be thriving as a hobby/ pastime, perhaps this facility, which enables discs to be played...
