windows 10 query

Hi all. Probally like you I am every day asked to download Windows 10. If I did that would it delete my present windows seven professional, or is it possible to have both programmes on the same PC. I am perfectly happy with Windows 7, but I thought that perhaps if I could have 7 and 10 on the same PC it would stop the 10 download being offered every day.

it is possible to have both on the same PC, but I'm pretty certain that downloading from the prompt will simply upgrade your Windows 7 installation. If you want to dual boot, take a look at this "HowTo" : http://www.howtogeek.com/197647/how-to- ... ws-7-or-8/
Please note I have not tried this, neither am I endorsing it, however, my cursory glance through suggests it is in line with everything I would have expected.

If you really don't want Windows 10 and don't want Microsoft to be constantly offering it to you, or worse, sneaking it onto your PC as a Windows Update, then take a look at the GWX Control Panel.

Thanks Peter B for your info about GWX. I had 2 days notice that Microsoft had scheduled to download windows 10 on my PC. I had previously noted Microsoft that I didn't want win 10, but obviously it fell on deaf ears. I downloaded GWX,ticked the right boxes, and all win 10 notifications ceased the WIn 10 icon disappeared from my PC and of course the download didn't take place. So thank you again and also the clever person who offered the free app.
