LIAFF

Post by fraught »

I was just wondering... and i think i've asked this once before, does anyone have the details of previous IAC Film Festivals?

I was just looking at the BIAFF page on the website and it details some of the festivals back to 1999. Is there any plans to continue uploading the details of past festivals?

Also... i know i've definately asked this before... but i remember having my photo taken during one of the festivals in London in the early 90's, but never got to see the photo and was just wondering who has this pic? Can someone remind me who to talk to?

THE man for photographs at IAC events is Dr. Norman Speirs of Edinburgh. He is very organised and probably has the negatives carefully filed away. Unfortunately he is not on email but I will PM you his snail mail. The catch is that he may need a photo of you so that he can recognise you!

As for the festival listings - I put them on the website in my day as webmaster and went as far back as I have programmes. It might be possible to go a bit further back but there are gaps in the records. When trying to record the information about IAC trophies, for example, (see http://www.theiac.org.uk/central/trophi ... sintro.htm) Gerald Mee and I hit a few blank walls. There were a few years when IAC had no magazine of its own but "hitched a lift" in commercial mags ... where there was seldom space to list contest winners. Over the years records have been lost.

If anyone has LIAFF festival brochures with results in them that are for years prior to 1999 - please contact me so that we might arrange to copy them and put the details onto the website
.

I'm sure i have a smattering of brochures.

Did you want me to scan them and email them over... or just drop them in the Mail?

And thanks for the info! :)

Hi Fraught

If you can be bothered to scan and email them that would be great, but if that's a pain post them. You know our snail mail address.

Remember we are talking about programmes etc from before 1999 .

Cheers

Yes, Jan and I will be at BIAFF ... though only arriving about lunchtime on Saturday because we will be attending a film event in Reading on the Friday night. We are staying at the Ibis. We should be around the Chesterfield hotel from Saturday afternoon through to late Sunday night!

If any forum readers care to say hello, we'd be delighted - and we'll gladly collect any brochures you have Fraught.

Dave

PS No one has commented yet, but picking up on a comment about the font size on the forum, I've been selecting all my entries and setting the "Font size" in the box on the right of the window to "Large".

In the course of my research as IAC Archivist, I have included many of the LIAFF/BIAFF results in the written archive, available from the IAC office, if that is of any help.

I don't have an actual paper copy of it myself but I'm sure you'll be able to consult a copy of it at BIAFF in Chesterfield on the IAC goodies table.

Regards
Mike
