I have just heard the sad news that Reg Townsend has passed away.
Reg was a past Chairman and past President of IAC among many other offices
he held.
That makes him sound worthy and dull. He was not. He was full of bonhomie
and always good company. A film maker and engineer at heart his movie work
may not live on but his memory will. He was one of those wonderful people
who quietly pick up the pieces when others let them fall.
Other people can write better about him and all he has done for amateur film
making in Britain. I will just say that Jan and I have lost a charming friend.

he really was a lovely man to know.
