You Tube oddity.

Post by Peter Stedman »

I made a short pre-view video and put it on You Tube for my client to review. I've checked that it plays from You Tube with no problem, but despite sending the link several times to my client they can't get it to play from You Tube. They have tried on 2 computers. I sent the link to another person and they can play it with no problem.

Any ideas on this one please.

I would say that their pc's do not have the correct playback codec installed.

Difficult to be precise without more info about any error message they are getting

Ask the recipient to make sure their web browser and ad-blocking software are not stopping the video appearing. Can they access any other YouTube videos? YouTube go to a lot of trouble to make sure their material can be seen on as many systems as possible.

Might your recipient be in a country where copyright laws have made YouTube to see fit to block it?

Thanks for replies. The problem has been resolved but not explained. My colleague is fairly used to viewing You Tube videos both those created by me for him and others. The one mentioned is the first time things have gone wrong.

I solved the problem by uploading again exactly the same video and sent him the new You Tube link and everything worked fine. I have emailed him to ask him for details of the error message seen from You Tube but he’s away all weekend and will do this on his return.

Thanks for your interest and replies. Pete.
