Thorsaa Film Festival - Update

Post by FILM THURSO »

What a year it's been so far! For those following the Thorsaa Film Festival (formerly The Big Gig) you may know it's had some problems with basically not be able to get going due to funding problems which hit earlier this year. Cinema For Thurso even had to ditch its IAC membership but the money scales are now tipped considerably more favourably and we will be looking to restart our membership and re-launch the Thorsaa Film Festival as soon as possible, ideally before the end of this year. While we can't make promises as we still have the venue problem (our local cinema isn't interested even though they are running very successfully on our business plan!). That won't stop me asking them again but whatever, all options are being looked at and we are keen to get this thing back in business.

We have a back-log of films that weren't run and it is planned to show them in the launch programme and then get started with next years event. We are accepting film submissions for 2014.

Good news! We lack film festivals in the British Isles - or at least festivals that truly welcome amateur film.
