Had a really good night at the latest 'Red Carpet Screenings Film Festival' in Basingstoke tonight. Saw some great films, caught up with some great friends, and met loads of new and talented people!

Was really good to see Dave & Jan Watterson. Dave gave a cracking and perfect talk at the end of the night, with his own critique of all the films on show... i could have listened to you for hours!

Brilliant night! :-)

Thanks, Geoff. I seldom have much idea what I have said ... lots of preparation and then it tumbles out any which way.

Very good event indeed. I do hope other areas might be able to arrange such non-competitive festivals. We celebrated some fine films, mainly by people who would class themselves as independent film makers. The standard was mixed but generally very high. Films are only shown if the film maker is present and each film maker is invited on stage after her/his film is shown and interviewed in a gentle, positive way. All those at the event spoke well and had much of interest to talk about.

What gave the occasion its buzz was so many indie film makers getting together and networking ... that makes it sound like a chore ... better to say enthusiasts sharing their enthusiasm. Several people told me about joint projects with people they had met at the previous Red Carpet Festivals. People came from London and Cornwall but most had a connection with the Basingstoke area.

It is WELL worth the effort to get to a Red Carpet Screening ... they aim to have three or four a year. It works largely because the guy who organises it and does the interviews is Seb Hall: kind, patient, thorough and supportive.

The films on show last night we're yet again really good. The stand out film for me was an amazing piece of work called 'Zion'. The Red Carpet event was its first festival, and the crowd reaction was overwhelmingly positive! It knocked everyone's socks off!

Everything from the incredible performances to the beautiful photography to the wonderful writing and everything else... this film is going to do well! What shocked me afterwards was that it was made with no budget whatsoever. People believed so much in the script that they were willing to lend their equipment, time, and effort to get the film made.

I had a great chat with the writer of the film afterwards, and she was so happy with the reactions to the film.

So keep an eye out for it, it's powerful stuff!

The guy who set up the Red Carpet Screenings Film Festival, Seb Hall, has been recognised by the local community for all his work in promoting the arts and especially Independant Film.

The next Red Carpet Screening Film Festival is a week Saturday! It's going to be a really good one too! I believe the wonderful Dave & Jan Watterson are coming along, it'll be nice to catch up. James Webber ('Dancer' and 'Three') will be there showing his amazing film 'Driftwood'. I'm going to be showing some excerpts from my feature film 'Addict' Should be a good night alround! Well worth getting down there for it.

Looking forward to it Geoff! It'll be good to catch up with everyone! Also, I haven't seen Driftwood with an audience yet (well, apart from the cast and crew screening but they're bias!) so that should be interesting / nerve racking!

I like that poster, Fraught!
The "lay out" is simple but very good.
It is inviting.
Success!

I can't take the credit for that Willy... although my camera man Carl can. :-) I will pass on your comments.
