Re: Adobe Premiere CS 5
Additional comments regarding CS5: I have now added an ASUS GTX460 graphics card (ASUS's over-clocked version) and the results are very encouraging; in general, the real time performance is similar to that of Edius and I find that together with the MX02 mini + FAST the system provides a very adequat...

Re: THE IAC AS A REGISTERED CHARITY
It's a tax saving (avoidance) measure that is used by many non-profit making societies.

Re: Adobe Premiere CS 5
I have been playing around with the CS5 Productuion Suite for a while now and I have found it to be quite an improvement over CS4. Premiere still lags behind Edius's real time performance in the effects and rendering departments, but not as much as CS4. Similar tests were made using the same clips o...

Re: MiniDV tapes
Ian, I have a small sound recording studio and editing suite in the basement of my home. Built into the side of a hill with only one side leading out to ground level, the temperature remains at 60F +- a few degrees throughout the year without any additional heating, but the humity does change during...

Re: At the end of a project ...
I'm not quite sure how I came to start a new thread, my original posting (on this thread) was in response a posting from Michael on another one; I was quite surprised when it didn't appear on that thread. Just like editing, one can so easily do the unexpected! Geoff [Dave Watterson - sorry Geoff, yo...

Re: MiniDV tapes
Michael, I think that all media will have a 'sell by' date, it's just a question of knowing , or should I say predicting the shelf life. As far as I'm aware, the only CD in my collection to have suffered the ravages of time was a commercial one in which the sealing was inadequate and the metallic co...

Re: MiniDV tapes
Peter, In the past some magnetic tape formulations have absorbed moisture from the air over a period of time resulting in a sticky surface necessitating in the need to 'cook' them in an oven before dubbing to new media. This absorption has normally taken a period of some years, but even so, I strong...

Re: MiniDV tapes
I cannot say how the longevity of DVDs compare with that of CDs, but I have recordable CD's that go back at least 22 years and still play perfectly. I also have some professional Ampex tape of similar age that, although having been used for one master recording, shows signs of deterioration. Both ha...

Re: Edius and Audio?
It may be a limitation of the trial version, check on the Grass Valley Edius forum, but I suspect that it is basic finger trouble or an insallation problem as it works OK here.

Re: 2010 INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION RESULTS
A great shame about the projection of 'My point of view - a diabetic journey, it completely ruined one of the most moving documentaries that I have seen. Fortunately, I have twice seen it projected correctly in 16:9 and I only wish that I could boast that it was my production. The video diary footag...

Re: Judges critiques - a criticism!
Mike, You were obviousely asleep before the film started since the opening caption did not say that it was to be given away as you describe. It stated that the film was made to be shown to disabled visitors unable to walk around the house, this puts a quite different perspective on the purpose for w...

Download a 30 day trial copy of Edius 5 - It is rock solid, proves better real-time performance than FCP, Premiere Pro CS4, Vegas or Magix.

Re: Working with HDV for projection at competition. HELP PLEASE
Tony, It is unlikely that your Post work 'weakened' the signal as it could do in the case of an analogue system, it is also unlikely that the length of leads would effect the quality or stability your, and others' programmes. Was the festival projector an HD device projecting full 1920 x 108 or was ...

Re: Rewinding tapes
Ian, Whilst playing a tape back on a camera/deck other than on the one on which it had been recorded is most unlikely to damage. Sometimes, and these days it is very rare, tapes recorded on one machine may not playback correctly on another, if this is the case, then the head alignment in one or the ...
