Michael, Toast Titanium Pro will allow you to burn Bluray compatible disks on standard DVDs on the normal DVD drive fitted in the Mac; up to between 30-40 minutes duration is possible on a single layer disk. Can't be certain, but it must be getting on for 20 and at least 15.

Perhaps I've been lucky, but as a user of CD-Rs since they were first introduced and cost £17 trade, I have yet to loose any data. Perhaps the fact that they have been stored in a humidity controled and essentially dark environment has helped.

Using Toast 10 Platinum I have burned Bluray compatible disks onto DVDs using the normal MacPro DVD Drive. I canot answer for PC use as mine has a Bluray burner fitted.
