Re: A Festival Center
I suppose initially viewing BIAFF movie on Vimeo could save you judges a trip to the judging venue and all the hastle and costs associated with a weekend away.
Pros and cons either way

Re: SJ1000 camcorder drops in price
There is a reason why its dropped in price. There is now a new model the SJ4000, which looks more like a GoPro. The price varies and mine cost £72, with second battery, a 16Gb card, a car screen fitting and 12v car outlet power supply + the usual box of fittings for bike, helmets, arms, waist etc. T...

Look for video convertor ultimate
Its the software I use and it now costs $65.
My version also rips commercial discs so my movie collection is now ripped and on the media player so no more trailer after trailer before we get to the movie

Re: Editing Software
Also if you want some very good editing software for free, legit-ably then search Lightworks in Google.
There are also plenty of video tutorials available for which you decide upon.
For audio editing, Audacity is the one, again its free and very very good

Re: Editing Software
If you do go with Vegas, be careful which you buy as there are different packages with the basic, platinum and suite versions. See the specifications of each version. They also have a trial version so before you buy download and test it thoroughly. The price of the suite at £85 does seem good value....

Glad you are sorted.
Just looked on ebay, £1300 seems the low end of the for sale range

Re: Firewire and Waindows 7
Arthur You will have to have the card installed before you will see it in Device Manager. What Chris is advising is that the default driver that Windows installs may not work correctly and an older version which is the legacy driver is the one to manually select.......just follow Chris's very precis...

Re: Firewire and Windows 7
Arthur I have two PCs with added firewire cards, both with Texas chipsets and both worked well with Windows 7. As Tim states just make sure they have Texas chipsets. Fitting then is easy, open ip the PC, remove one of the rear slot covers, inset the card and boot. Just make sure the PC is plugged in...

Re: USB hub
Roy To add to the advice Dave has given, if your PC has USB 3 connections then it is worthwhile hunting for a USB 3 hub. There is a speed advantage in using USB 3 if you can, especially if you want to transfer large amounts of data or a large file. A powered hub will enable you to use it as a chargi...

John
Pioneer, but not sure of model, however we as a club are now not meeting in our hall until the start of Oct.
Knowing the model number will probably not help as we bought an end of line unit cheap.

Re: Digital Sound Issues - what are your solutions?
http://dialog.theiac.org.uk/dialog/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3305 Western Digital sell a few media players, the one with integral hard drive and usb connections is now called the Elements Play. Interesting about the limited frequency range, ours seems OK to me via our pair of Mission 330 speakers. In ...

Re: Celluloid memories
Going back to the original post. It is so sad that the family were so disrespectful of their relative that their treasured memories were skipped. Its their heritage they are throwing away. I would love some more visual records of my family's past, all we have is a photo album covering 1850 to 1930 o...

Re: EDITING BY JUDGES ???
Why not? As long as each version brings enjoyment to the viewer then that is all that matters, or is it? That said, take a long movie (c30m) like Red Rose that did really well last year, if a different version was shown at BIAFF I would not like it as it would take away the opportunity for two or th...
