Re: Windows 10
Thanks Tim - so far so good. I have the full version of MPX6 which includes the Menu Designer for producing DVDs. But I am sure it will work ok as you have proved that the programme works in W10. I am surprised that it handles 4k but that is something for the future as I don't intend going in that d...

Re: Windows 10
Thanks John & Col for your replies. I get the Computer/Active magazine every 2 weeks and there seems to be a lot of correspondence complaining about the arrogant way Microsoft bullies Windows 7 & 8 users into downloading updates and installing them without permission. Does anyone in IAC land...

Re: DVD drives
Thank you Tim and Col for your help.
I have taken your advice and purchased a new drive which in the end is the quick way round the problem.
Incidently my computer does not even recognise the problem drive now.

DVD drives
How can I alter the name of one of my drives which should be:NEC ND-4550A Super Multi CD-R/RW/DVD-R/RW IDE Drive but I think has been corrupted (I have no idea how or why) to: LEA DTD] RU LD-4550A? I have tried uninstalling it but to no effect. There just seems to be no way to rename it. Can anyone ...

Re: Control buttons on Sony HC1 LCD screen
Thanks Dave and Tom. Yes Dave I did try everything from the manual to correct it but to no avail and Tom you were right about the braid that feeds the LCD screen. It apparently is a common fault with this camera. I must be unlucky as 3 other members of our video club have the same camera but not had...

Control buttons on Sony HC1 LCD screen
The 3 control buttons on side of LCD screen are not working. I have followed the instructions in the manual under CALIBRATION without success. I have even tried a reset, still not working. Has anyone encountered this problem or can offer any help. The camera is the Sony HC1 and the Zoom and Rec/Stan...

Re: Copying commercial VHS tapes to PC
I have managed to obtain a WinTV PVR2 by Hauppauge and can now transfer my
commercially bought tapes to computer and then produce a DVD.
Thanks to all those who have posted information about this subject.

Re: Copying commercial VHS tapes to PC
Hi Dave Thanks for help and suggestions. Well I've looked at the two tapes that I want to transfer and they are definitely PAL. I have been looking at the HQ Macro-Plus Copy Decoder from Amazon priced at £17.75. The reviews are certainly mixed. It seems that it either works or it doesn't - no half m...

Re: Copying commercial VHS tapes to PC
To answer your questions Dave:
The tapes are definitely PAL
and I connect the SVHS VCR and the PC with
an S-Video lead and red and white phonos for sound.
I am not sure what an SVHS lead is?
As I have said this set-up works perfectly with my personal tapes.

Re: Copying commercial VHS tapes to PC
I have a Panasonic SVHS VCR connected directly to my PC and all I get is the audio and just a grey picture. I have tried capturing the commercial tape on Mini dv tape in my camera but get the same result. A DVD recorder linked up to the SVHS VCR seems to be the answer, but is this the cheapest optio...

Re: Copying commercial VHS tapes to PC
Thanks Dave for the info. You are quite right about copyright and I would be in trouble if I were to sell the copies after. But they are films that I purchased myself and would like to transfer them to disc. This is a problem that many people have now that they no longer own a VCR. It is a sad fact ...

Copying commercial VHS tapes to PC
Can anyone dare tell me how to copy bought VHS films, that are protected, to a PC
so that a DVD may be produced.
I have copied my personal VHS tapes quite easily, it's the commercial ones that are a
problem.
