Re: 8mm film scanners
Hello Tom. Mag stripe is really only as good as its age and the track put down as we know. I have been very pleased with the MWA results regarding sound. A lower cost option is the Retroscan which I did look at but getting a bit late in the day now work wise to invest so give someone else the job. T...

Re: 8mm film scanners
The MWA Scanners I would say deliver the best results but at a price. Most of my better 8mm efforts are scanned on one at 2K on this professional system which is really impressive. Have seen the results from the China plastic units and to my eyes the results do look poor along with unstable framing....

Re: What baffled you when you began filming?
I wished someone could have explained to me in the 60's when this young boy got his first Standard 8mm cine camera and how to work out how to turn the film over without exposing it to daylight. Things did improve fairly quickly with the advent of Super 8 in 1965. Incidentally I have just scanned up ...

Re: Val Ellis
I was saddened to hear the news at our 9.5mm film group meeting. Val was a great support to me in my time as youth officer for the NW IAC region some years ago and I will miss her enthusiasm.

Re: SHOWMANSHIP
Hi Dave hope you are well. Talking about showmanship might be an idea for some of the newbies to hunt down a copy of some of the old cine magazines from the 70's, particularly Mike Kents articles which were encouraging back then with his home Cinema setups. These days its so easy with a huge amount ...

Re: Richard Curry
Really saddened to hear of Richards passing. I had known him from the old film making days shall we say and used to bump into him from time to locally shopping having a good old chat. Richard was always encouraging, giving of helpful advice and when we met usually had a chuckle about something or ot...

Re: Would you join a club?
First joined a cine club in early 70’s I guess and have fond memories of sharing film making with fellow members. In later years we went through what was for many a painful transition into video film making but the learning still continued as did the fun. If you are not in a club sharing this hobby ...

That guy has nothing on this chap. 70mm ideal in your front room next to a GS1200 Xenon.

Re: Your next Camcorder?
What would you look for when purchasing your next camcorder? Would you go for price? Brand? Features? etc.... I`ve just bought a Cheap JVC model for £149 to replace my orther cheap one that broke. I went for price and features. My old one was a Canon Model and gave great service. Canon wasn`t avail...

Re: DIY telecine machines
Hi Mike. Yes you will find a small pre-set to change the speed within the projector on a Yelco. Use a insulated screwdriver though to set it.
