Re: Voice Overs query
Voice or narration is an entirely personal issue Peter and in my experience is not one which is overcome by asking others for their opinion. If you are comfortable with your own voice -and only you can decide this- then you should (in my view) simply proceed, to ask others for their view on your abi...

Re: BIAFF 2016 - who's entering?
Just a quick one for Dave & JanW. No need to feel badly over me by the way, there is nothing irreplaceable involved here, in fact have just re-copied the discs in question and will package and post on Monday, yes there is that inevitable bit of 'hassle' thing, but it is minor and I am long-since...

Re: BIAFF 2016 - who's entering?
Pleased to note everyone tingling with anticipation at BIAFF 2016, but thought it important to report my recent submissions experience. I registered my entry on-line on 18th. Dec. last in order to take advantage of the savings available as I'm sure did many others of you out there. I took the precau...

Re: sound track composition
Thanks Ned/Tim for your response, I will look further at what you suggest. The 'Magix' package does provide for personal input in terms of individual notes/beats, but only through the 'Qwerty' keyboard which again is very limited. It was only when I began to explore what was in the available library...

sound track composition
Advice from anyone who might please. I bought a copy of 'Magix Music Maker' last year (a 'loop' style music-making software programme) with a view to developing my own sound-track compositions in an attempt to avoid the copyright issues -which are often raised in film-making circles- to some extent ...

Re: Customer service???
Couldn't agree more chaps. My experience of customer service mirrors your own, but then I grew up in a world of 'direct' or 'face to face' transaction over the counter which relied upon personality and the interaction between. These days -it seems to me - the concept of 'service' is simply one of 'g...

Re: Adobe and CS5
Hi Roy, I noticed the repair disc option but didn't explore further, I'm not sure (in fact have no idea) what that is supposed to achieve - repair what? As far as the external hard drive is concerned it should (and does on my PC) work similar to the standard flash drive otherwise known as memory sti...

Re: How to view
I too would be sorry to see the DVD system expire and be replaced by... what? But then I am something of a 'traditionalist' perhaps or more likely just get used to something which does the job adequately and therefore fail to see the need for change, but I am sorry in many ways to say that such thin...

Re: Adobe and CS5
Just a note on this issue Roy1, I use Adobe (7) and went through a period of instability with my outfit a couple of years ago and as Dave W has already done for you, I was pointed in the direction of 'system restore' and everything was fine. However, a few weeks or so later the same thing happened o...

Re: Are Film Competitions a Lottery?
There are many ways in which anyone might comment on the value of competition and its' usefulness, but it is only through personal experience that any one might be affected and if the 'result' is good for us then competition is good for us. I agree with ned cs' final comment pretty much, but in my v...

Re: DESKTOP COMPUTERS FOR HD EDITING
Hi Cathy, I use Adobe Premiere Elements and when I upgraded to HD went to the same 'builder' as put my first outfit together and told them simply that I wanted a suitable specification designed purely for video editing purposes and left it to them. It came in at just over £900 and that was without s...

Re: 'IN MEMORIAM'
Hi John C, note your problems with Youtube but, other than the attachment of ads which as Dave says can be skipped pretty much immediately, I had no problem at all with the upload or eventual broadcast. When I first decided to upload to Youtube by the way, I was not a member of the IAC and spent som...
